Why we exist

Business is just our way
of bringing light to this world.

Most companies exist to make money. We exist to make things that matter, and money is what lets us keep doing it. That’s not a subtle difference. It changes every decision we make: what we build, who we work with, how we treat people, and what we refuse to do.

MAYAK was built on a simple belief: that good design, thoughtful products, and honest work can genuinely improve someone’s day. Sometimes that’s a brand that helps a person through a hard moment. Sometimes it’s a funnel that finally connects the right product with the right person. Either way, something gets better. That’s the point.

Elya — Founder of MAYAK

The founder

Elya

Ilyass Lahlou, known as Elya, has been doing this for 8 years. Not learning it, not preparing for it — actually doing it. Across brands, NGOs, artists, institutions, and product companies. The kind of range that only comes from saying yes to almost everything early on and figuring it out along the way.

Along the way, he worked with organisations like UNICEF, Crédit Agricole, and the U.S. Embassy. He led creative direction for international artists, managed programs reaching hundreds of people, and built systems that worked. Not in theory. For real.

Outside of work, he’s obsessed with cars and speed, music is something he genuinely can’t function without, and he makes videos the way other people journal. Art, in all its forms, is the thing underneath everything else.

MAYAK is where all of it converges. Eight years in the making. Built to last.
